We’re excited to announce a new series of Geotourism Events presented by the Wits School of Geosciences in partnership with Earth Quest Solutions and Babanango Game Reserve. All proceeds from these courses contribute to the Isipho Esihle GeoSustainability Endowment, supporting the studies of future deserving students. Save the Dates for 2025: 🍷 Rocks & Reds – 12–16 June Discover the unique pairing of geology and wine in the heart of Babanango Game Reserve. 🏙️ Jozi140: Geology That Built a City – 8–9 August Celebrate Johannesburg’s 140th anniversary by exploring the geology that shaped it. 🌄 Into the Wild 1–5 October An adventurous exploration of the unique geology of Babanango Game Reserve. This marks the official launch of two significant initiatives by the Wits School of Geosciences: the African Research Centre for Ore Systems Science (CORES) and the Earth Observatory. The Rolling Stones Mobile Museum has completed its incredible Eastern Cape tour — taking the Nqweba Meteorite home to the province where it fell. From Nelson Mandela University, to the Albany Museum in Makhanda (celebrating its 170th anniversary), the Nelson Mandela Bay Science and Technology Centre, and finally Graaff-Reinet, we’ve had the privilege of sharing this extraordinary story of space meeting Earth with hundreds of learners, teachers, and communities. This journey was made possible through the collaboration and generosity of our hosts and partners — heartfelt thanks to: Nelson Mandela University, Albany Museum, Nelson Mandela Bay Science and Technology Centre, Karoo Origins Centre, Graaff-Reinet and our sponsors and supporters, including BUGEMET, CIMERA, Northam Platinum Booysendal (who let us let us pilot out set-up at their career day), and the many volunteers and educators who brought science to life on the road.
